"Lowest seen" is the cheapest online discounter listing. Those bottles may be parallel imports or a different size, so they are not always a fair match.

So the jump from the 12 to the 18 is less than RM300. However, the 25 costs about four times as much as the 18. We found it at only one shop, so it is hard to find. In short, the Chivas Regal price in Malaysia climbs gently until the very top. Most buyers stay with the 12 or the 18.

A short history of Chivas Regal

The story starts with a fine grocery in Aberdeen. James and John Chivas took it over in the 1800s, and the shop dates back to 1801. The brothers began to blend whisky for their customers. Later, in 1909, the firm launched Chivas Regal as a luxury 25 year old for the American market.

Today Pernod Ricard owns the brand, and has done since 2001. In Malaysia, Pernod Ricard Malaysia looks after Chivas Regal along with Royal Salute and The Glenlivet. The 12 Year Old, first launched in the US in 1939, is still the core of the range.

Strathisla: the heart of Chivas

Strathisla sits in Keith, in Speyside. It began as the Milltown distillery in 1786, which makes it one of the oldest working distilleries in the Highlands. Chivas Brothers uses its malt as the cornerstone of Chivas Regal. Many other malts and grains join it in the blend. Even so, that rich, fruity Strathisla malt shapes the house style. The Chivas Regal range sold in Malaysia

Malaysian shops carry six Chivas bottles. Here is how each one tastes and how the Chivas Regal price in Malaysia changes as you move up the range. Tasting notes describe the general house style.

Chivas Regal 12

Chivas 12 is a 40% blend and the bottle most people know. It is smooth and honeyed, with ripe fruit, so it suits new drinkers. At RM264–RM273, it also features in our most popular whisky list.

Nose

Honey, apple and wild flowers.

Palate

Creamy, with vanilla and hazelnut.

Finish

Soft and fairly long.

Chivas Regal Extra 13

The Extra line leans on extra cask flavour. In Malaysia, shops list it in sherry cask form, and duty-free also carries rum cask editions. It costs RM315–RM328, though whisky.my is the main stockist.

Nose

Dried fruit and sweet spice.

Palate

Rich and nutty, with toffee.

Finish

Warm and sweet.

Chivas Regal XV

The XV is a 15 year old blend. Pernod Ricard calls it refined, fruity and velvety. It finishes in casks that once held Grande Champagne Cognac. Shops charge RM333–RM387.

Nose

Bright fruit and a hint of grape.

Palate

Velvety, with honey and spice.

Finish

Smooth and gently sweet.

Chivas Regal 18

The 18 is the step up for sipping. It is richer and darker than the 12, with more oak. Expect to pay RM448–RM525.

Nose

Dried fruit and dark chocolate.

Palate

Velvet texture with toffee and spice.

Finish

Long and warming.

Chivas Regal Mizunara

Mizunara first came out for Japan in 2014. Part of the blend finishes in Japanese Mizunara oak, which adds a gentle spice. It costs RM428–RM432.

Chivas Regal 25

The 25 nods to the first Chivas Regal of 1909. We found it only at whisky.my, for RM2,119. So treat it as a special order rather than a shelf bottle.

Chivas Regal at KLIA duty-free

Duty-free can beat the usual Chivas Regal price in Malaysia, but only if you compare by size. In October 2026, the Eraman KLIA catalogue listed Chivas 18 at RM594 for 1L. It also listed Extra 13 rum and sherry cask editions at RM268 for 1L. Check our KLIA duty-free whisky guide for the allowance rules.

Where to buy Chivas Regal in Malaysia

Whisky.my, W Wine & Liquor Warehouse and Jaya Grocer all list the 12 and 18, so the Chivas Regal price in Malaysia is easy to compare. Pernod Ricard also tells buyers to use its official stores on Lazada and Shopee. Since prices vary, compare two or three sellers first. Our guide on where to buy whisky in Malaysia lists more trusted shops. Remember that you must be 21 or older to buy alcohol.

How to drink Chivas Regal

Chivas 12 works neat, on ice or in a highball with soda. Its soft, fruity style also suits simple cocktails. By contrast, the 18, XV and 25 are best neat or with a few drops of water. Our guide on how to drink whisky explains why water helps. Whatever you choose, sip slowly and never drink and drive.

Chivas 12 vs Johnnie Walker Black Label

This is the classic Malaysian choice. Chivas 12 costs RM264–RM273, while Johnnie Walker Black Label costs RM248–RM269. So the price gap is small. Chivas is sweeter and softer, while Black Label has more smoke. If you want a cheaper blend from the same owner, look at Ballantine's. For an older, grander style, try Royal Salute, which starts at 21 years.
