This privacy policy explains what data whiskymalaysia.com collects and how we use it. The short answer is very little. This is a static website: we use no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking scripts. Effective date: 16 October 2026.
Who we are
Whisky Malaysia is an independent information site run by the Whisky Malaysia Editorial Team. We do not sell alcohol or any other product, and we do not have user accounts. You can reach us at contact@whiskymalaysia.com.
What we do not collect

- We run no analytics tools, so we do not track visits, clicks or how long you stay.
- We show no ads and load no advertising or social media tracking scripts.
- We have no sign-up, login, comment or contact forms.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data.
The age notice and your browser
When you first visit, a notice asks you to confirm you are 21 or older. If you click "I am 21 or older", the site saves a single flag, wm-age, in your own browser's local storage. Its only job is to hide the notice on later visits. This flag stays on your device. It is not a cookie, and the site never sends it to us or anyone else. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for whiskymalaysia.com.
Server logs from our hosting provider
Like almost every website, our pages are delivered by a hosting provider. When your browser asks for a page, the provider's servers may record standard technical details, such as your IP address, browser type (user agent), the page requested and the time. Hosts keep these logs for security and to keep the service running. We do not use these logs to identify or profile visitors, and we do not combine them with other data.
When you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to reply and to check any correction you send. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not publish your name or address. We keep correspondence only as long as we need it.
Outside links and fonts
Our pages link to other sites, such as government pages, news reports and distillery sites. When you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. Our fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page does not send your data to a font provider.
Your rights under Malaysian law
Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Act 709), as amended by the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024, governs personal data in commercial transactions. We collect almost no personal data. Still, if you have emailed us, you may ask to see, correct or delete what we hold. Just write to contact@whiskymalaysia.com. The Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) is the regulator.
Children
This site is for adults aged 21 and over. It is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21.
Changes to this privacy policy
If we change how the site works, for example by adding a tool that collects data, we will update this privacy policy first and change the effective date above. For more about us, see our about page or our disclaimer.
