Ballantines price Malaysia: the full range

The table below lists each Ballantine's we found at Malaysian retailers. "Typical" is the range at mainstream shops such as whisky.my and W Wine & Liquor Warehouse. "Lowest seen" is the cheapest online discounter listing. However, those bottles may be parallel imports or a different size, so they are not always a fair match.

Typical price is the range at mainstream Malaysian retailers for a standard 70cl or 75cl bottle, checked in October 2026. *Lowest seen is the cheapest online discounter listing. It may be a different bottle size or parallel-import stock. Prices change often, so confirm with the retailer before you buy.

So the Ballantines price in Malaysia doubles as you move from Finest to the 17. The 21 comes only from a discounter, so treat it as limited stock. For most buyers, Finest is the bottle that matters, and its Ballantines price in Malaysia stays at the budget end.

A short history of Ballantine's

George Ballantine was a farmer's son. In 1827, he opened a small grocery in Edinburgh, and it sold whisky alongside food. Over time, the family business turned to blending. According to Pernod Ricard, Ballantine's Finest followed in 1910.

Today Pernod Ricard owns the brand, and has done since 2005. Its Scotch arm, Chivas Brothers, runs it. Pernod Ricard also calls Finest "Europe's No. 1 Scotch whisky". So Ballantine's is a close cousin of Chivas Regal, even though the two taste quite different.

Miltonduff and Glenburgie

Ballantine's draws on many malts and grains. Even so, two Speyside distilleries stand out: Miltonduff and Glenburgie. Whisky writers often call them its signature malts. They give the blend its soft, fruity centre. Grain whisky then lightens the blend. For more on how blends work, see our guide to blended Scotch whisky.

The Ballantine's range in Malaysia

Malaysian shops mainly carry Finest and the 17. Here is what each one offers. The tasting notes describe the general house style.

Ballantine's Finest

Finest has no age statement and comes in at 40% ABV. It is light, sweet and smooth, with little smoke. At RM193–RM209, it sits close to our list of whisky under RM200. It also suits new drinkers, because it is gentle.

Nose

Soft vanilla and red apple.

Palate

Milk chocolate and light honey.

Finish

Short, fresh and clean.

Ballantine's 17

The 17 is a 40% blend with far more depth. Long ageing in oak gives it more vanilla, honey and a hint of smoke. Expect to pay RM408–RM459. If you like Finest but want a sipping whisky, this is the step up.

Nose

Oak, vanilla and baked fruit.

Palate

Rich honey with a light smoky edge.

Finish

Long and warming.

Ballantine's 21

We found the 21 only at Mr Chow, an online discounter, for RM500. Mainstream shops did not list it in October 2026. So ask a specialist shop if you want one, and check the stamp closely.

Ballantine's at KLIA duty-free

Duty-free is where Ballantine's looks cheapest. In October 2026, the Eraman KLIA catalogue listed Finest at RM114 for 1L and a 2L twin pack at RM216. It also listed the 12 Year Old at RM198 for 1L. We did not find the 12 at town shops. So if you fly often, the airport may beat the usual Ballantines price in Malaysia. Read our KLIA duty-free whisky guide for the allowance rules.

Where to buy Ballantine's in Malaysia

Whisky.my and W Wine & Liquor Warehouse stock both Finest and the 17. Pernod Ricard also tells buyers to use its official stores on Lazada and Shopee. Since the Ballantines price in Malaysia moves with promotions, compare a few sellers first. Our guide on where to buy whisky in Malaysia lists more trusted shops. Remember that you must be 21 or older to buy alcohol.

How to drink Ballantine's

Finest suits easy drinking. Try it with soda water and plenty of ice for a simple highball. It also works with cola or ginger ale. By contrast, sip the 17 neat or with a few drops of water. Our guides on how to drink whisky and whisky cocktails have more ideas. As always, drink in moderation.

How Ballantine's compares with other blends

Finest sits in a crowded part of the market. For example, Dewar's White Label costs RM188–RM230, and Famous Grouse costs RM153–RM190. Johnnie Walker Red Label costs RM183–RM213. So the Ballantines price in Malaysia is about average for an entry blend. Finest is the lightest and sweetest of the group, while Red Label is spicier.
