Royal Salute price Malaysia: what you will pay

The table below shows the Royal Salute price in Malaysia at mainstream retailers. "Typical" is the range at shops such as whisky.my and W Wine & Liquor Warehouse. Online discounters sometimes list lower prices. However, those bottles may be parallel imports or a different size, so they are not always a fair match.

Typical price is the range at mainstream Malaysian retailers for a standard 70cl or 75cl bottle, checked in October 2026. *Lowest seen is the cheapest online discounter listing. It may be a different bottle size or parallel-import stock. Prices change often, so confirm with the retailer before you buy.

The two main shops sit just RM2 apart. So with Royal Salute, you gain little by shopping around for the standard flagon. Instead, focus on buying from a trusted seller and checking that the seal is intact.

The story of Royal Salute

Royal Salute began in 1953. According to Pernod Ricard, it was a coronation gift for the young Queen Elizabeth II. The name refers to the 21-gun salute, a salute fired to honour a monarch. That is also why every blend starts at 21 years.

In fact, Pernod Ricard says Royal Salute has only ever used whiskies aged at least 21 years. The brand sums this up in its motto, "We Begin Where Others End". Pernod Ricard has owned it since 2001. In Malaysia, Pernod Ricard Malaysia handles it, along with Chivas Regal and The Glenlivet.

The Strathisla and Chivas link

Royal Salute comes from Chivas Brothers, the same house that makes Chivas Regal. Chivas Brothers owns Strathisla in Keith, Speyside, which dates from 1786. Its malt is the cornerstone of Chivas Regal. So Royal Salute shares a family, a home region and a blending tradition with Chivas. If you enjoy Chivas 18 or 25, Royal Salute is a natural next step.

Royal Salute 21 Signature Blend

The Signature Blend is the core bottle. It is a 21 year old blended Scotch at 40%. Like every Royal Salute, it comes in a porcelain flagon. The flagons come in sapphire, ruby and emerald colours, which nod to royal jewels.

The official notes describe a rich, fruity whisky with a little smoke. Long ageing gives it a soft, rounded feel. As a result, it suits slow sipping more than mixing.

Nose

Sweet pear, citrus and autumn flowers, with vanilla and a hint of sherry.

Palate

Orange marmalade, fresh pear, spice and hazelnut.

Finish

Long, dry and gently spicy.

Older Royal Salute editions

Royal Salute also makes older and limited blends. For example, the Eraman catalogue at KLIA listed a 32 Year Old in a 50cl flagon at RM2,261 in October 2026. Mainstream shops in town did not list it. So if you want something rarer, ask a specialist shop to order it.

Royal Salute at KLIA duty-free

In October 2026, the Eraman KLIA catalogue listed Royal Salute 21 at RM1,378 for 1L. That bottle is larger than the 70cl flagon in town. Even so, per millilitre the duty-free price is no bargain. So the usual Royal Salute price in Malaysia at a town shop compares well. Read our KLIA duty-free whisky guide before you fly.

Where to buy Royal Salute in Malaysia

Whisky.my and W Wine & Liquor Warehouse both stock the 21 Signature Blend at the usual Royal Salute price in Malaysia. Pernod Ricard also points buyers to its official stores on Lazada and Shopee. Our guide on where to buy whisky in Malaysia lists more trusted sellers. You must be 21 or older to buy alcohol here.

How to drink Royal Salute

Pour it neat into a tulip glass, so you catch the fruit and flowers. Then add a few drops of water if it feels strong. Ice will dull the aroma, so use it only on a hot day. Our guides on how to drink whisky and whisky glasses explain both tips. Above all, sip slowly and enjoy it in moderation.

How Royal Salute compares

At RM748–RM750, Royal Salute 21 costs more than Chivas 18 at RM448–RM525. However, it costs less than Johnnie Walker Blue Label at RM868–RM929. It also costs far less than Chivas 25. So, for a 21 year old blend, the Royal Salute price in Malaysia is fair. For more high-end bottles, see our list of the most expensive whisky in Malaysia.

Is Royal Salute cheaper at KLIA duty-free?

Who makes Royal Salute?

Chivas Brothers makes Royal Salute, and Pernod Ricard owns it. It is the older sibling of Chivas Regal.
