The Chita whisky price in Malaysia is RM270–RM470 for a 70cl bottle (October 2026). Most shops cluster around RM270–RM300, so there is little reason to pay the top figure. That makes The Chita one of the cheapest ways to try a Suntory whisky that is not a blend.

Chita whisky price table for Malaysia
Here is The Chita from our October 2026 check of Malaysian retailers. The "lowest seen" figure comes from an online discounter. Since it may sell parallel-import stock, treat that price with care.
| Expression | Size | ABV | Typical price | Lowest seen* | Seen at |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Chita | 70cl | 43% | RM270–RM470 | RM216 | whisky.my, Wine Warehouse, Whiskery, Kanpai, Nomu |
Typical price is the range at mainstream Malaysian retailers for a standard 70cl or 75cl bottle, checked in October 2026. *Lowest seen is the cheapest online discounter listing. It may be a different bottle size or parallel-import stock. Prices change often, so confirm with the retailer before you buy.
What is a fair Chita whisky price?
The full range looks wide, but most listings sit close together. For example, Wine Warehouse asked RM270, whisky.my RM295 and Nomu RM301. Kanpai was higher, and one specialist listed it at RM470. So a fair Chita whisky price is about RM270–RM300.
Also note that some shop pages show a high "regular" price beside a "sale" price. One lists The Chita at RM442 regular and RM270 on sale. In that case, the sale price is the real one. As always, check that the listing is in stock before you compare.
Why Chita costs less than Suntory malts
The Chita is a grain whisky. It comes from column stills, which run continuously, rather than from small pot stills. Because of that, grain whisky is cheaper to make in volume. That explains why the Chita whisky price sits far below Yamazaki or Hakushu.
However, Malaysian tax still sets a floor. Excise and import duty apply per litre, whatever the whisky costs to make. Our whisky tax guide explains the numbers.
Chita distillery history
Keizo Saji founded the Chita distillery in 1972, on the Chita Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture. According to the House of Suntory Chita page, the distillery uses mainly corn. Its continuous multi-column stills can make three different types of grain whisky.
Chita grain is a key part of Suntory's blends. For instance, it gives Hibiki its soft, rounded body. It also forms the "heavy grain" part of Suntory Toki. Today, Suntory also bottles it on its own as The Chita.
Suntory ages The Chita in American white oak, wine casks and Spanish oak. As a result, it has more depth than you might expect from a grain whisky. It also meets the Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association standard for "Japanese whisky". Our Japanese whisky guide explains what that means.

The Chita tasting notes
Suntory calls The Chita "the serenity of Japanese whisky". It is mild, smooth and clean, and it is bottled at 43%. The notes below paraphrase Suntory's official tasting notes.
Crème brûlée, cardamom, acacia honey and rose.
Smooth and mild, with fresh mint and deep honey.
Clean, with spiced oak and a light bittersweet edge.
Because it is mostly corn, bourbon drinkers may find the sweetness familiar. In contrast, fans of smoky Islay malt may find it too gentle.
How to drink The Chita
The Chita shines in a highball. Fill a tall glass with ice, add one part whisky, then top with three or four parts cold soda. A twist of lemon or a mint leaf works well. Our whisky cocktails guide has the full method.
It is also easy to sip on the rocks, since the sweetness holds up as the ice melts. Whichever way you choose, drink slowly and know your limits.
